Leaders in Sustainable Business: ALES GREY™

  • We can learn meaningful lessons from sustainable brands like ALES GREY™

  • Choice of materials, manufacturing methods, and charitable donations are important aspects of sustainability

  • Along with reducing environmental impact, giving back to social causes can improve your level of sustainability

We believe in celebrating and learning from brands that are leaders in sustainable business. Our brand partner ALES GREY™ created the world's first recycled sustainable clog. In addition to planting a verified tree for every single product sold, they have also shown their commitment to sustainability through their choice in materials, manufacturing methods, and charitable donations.

So what is ‘the world’s first recycled sustainable clog’? It’s a first of its kind, single-piece injection-molded shoe made entirely of a proprietary recycled compound from XL EXTRALIGHT called Sustainable+.

  • Made of 51% recycled materials - by-products, scraps, and other production waste from factories

  • Saves 50% of new mineral resources

  • Cuts waste disposal needs in half

  • ZERO water waste - saving 8,000 liters of water compared to manufacturing a single pair of traditional leather shoes

While environmental impact is a huge component of sustainability, social impact is just as important. ALES GREY™ donates to an L.A.-based arts education program, Inner City Arts for Children. This program is considered an oasis of learning, achievement, and creativity in the heart of Skid Row, and a vital partner in the work of creating a safer and healthier Los Angeles.

We know that sustainability is a journey, not a destination, and a difficult one, too. That’s why we want to highlight brands that are doing sustainability right - so we can all learn from them. If you'd like to have your sustainable brand featured in a future blog post, or if you aren't planting with us yet but want to start, please reach out!
